The Year in Books, now in its fourth year, is an ongoing project which is open to everyone. You can join in at any time, and can participate via your blog, Instagram, Twitter, Goodreads or Pinterest. The Year in Books (#theyearinbooks) is about trying to ensure that we make space for reading in our busy lives, and is a way for us all to discover more lovely books (and lovely bibliophiles).
The aim of the project is to read (at least) a book a month during 2017. It’s not a conventional book club, so we don’t all read the same book. At the start of the month, I blog about the book that I am intending to read and write a few words (thoughts, comments, a review of sorts) about the previous month’s book. If you would like to do the same on your own blog, or over on Instagram, please do join me! Posts can be shared via #theyearinbooks on Twitter or Instagram, or can be pinned to the Year in Books Pinterest board (let me know in the blog comments if you would like to be added as a pinner.) Or, if you prefer, you can leave a link to your post in my blog post comments. You can read about why I started the project here, and find the most recent #theyearinbooks posts here.
You don’t have to blog about your books- you can participate purely via social media and can share as many books as you like- it doesn’t have to be restricted to one a month. I am @circleofpines on Instagram and on Twitter : please do tag me so that I can see your posts.
There is also a monthly #theyearinbooks Twitter chat, at 9pm GMT, on the last Monday of the month. It’s a lively, fun and friendly hour, and all are welcome. If you would like me to send you a reminder on the day, just tweet me, and I’ll add you to my list.
There’s a Goodreads group for this project, and all are very welcome to join. Finally, there’s a Year in Books Pinterest board, do follow along for all manner of bookish inspiration. If you would like to pin your Year in Books posts to the board, let me know in my blog comments and I will add you as a pinner. (If I should have added you, and haven’t, do nudge me! Pinterest is a little problematic on the issue and it sometimes takes a couple of attempts.)
It doesn’t matter whether or not you have joined in before- everyone is welcome and it’s never too late to get involved. If you would like to add a Year in Books button to your blog, you can find the code below (copy the code in the box below the image, and paste it into your own blog template).
Happy reading, and here’s to another bibliophilic year…
