tulips from the garden

Last year, my green-fingered mother-in-law planted handful upon handful of Sarah Raven tulip bulbs in pots and beds around our garden. Over the last week or so, the tulips have begun to bloom. They are such elegant flowers, with their straight stems and perfectly-formed heads, that I have been loath to cut them. Today, however, I was brave with my scissors and snipped just a few, to bring some May Day colour and warmth inside.

What a lovely MIL you have to plant handfuls of Sarah Raven tulips! Does she want to come and visit my house?!
A glorious mix of colours – I especially love the big orange one. Is it a parrot tulip (or have I made that up?!)x

oh they’re lovely… I’ve been seeing tulips everywhere recently and I love them… I think you’re right, they are so elegant. I can’t wait to plant some when we finally have a garden!
