red and gold

Vibrant red and glittering gold; drum beats and cymbal clashes; lions and dragons; fortune cookies and lucky envelopes. Chinese New Year is a festival that we have observed for a number of years now, and the Bristol celebrations are always worth a visit. This year the boys were particularly interested as S has been studying it at school and having performed his own dragon dance, he was keen to see the lion dancers in action. He made sure that he wore lucky red and yellow, and his homemade hat. The boys were nibbled by the lion during his dance, which supposedly eats away any bad luck and brings good fortune for the new year ahead. Afterwards, they were all too happy to practice their chopstick skills on a lunch of noodles and dumplings.
