postcards from Giffords Circus

A village green, a white big top tent surrounded by smart maroon wagons, an overflowing dressing up box and a sprinkling of magic: this is Giffords Circus. The scents of smoke and sawdust, of toasted nuts and candy floss. The twinkle of fairy lights and the tinkle of the organ. Across the green drifts the sound of music and laughter, followed by rapturous applause.

It was the fifth summer that we have visited Giffords, and the circus never fails to astonish and delight us. The familiar is intertwined with the unexpected, the awe-inspiring with the hilarious. Across three generations of family we giggled and gasped our way through yet another superlative show. It truly was wilder and more magical than ever.

You’ll find some of my previous trips to the circus here.

{My Giffords circus ticket was gifted to me but all thoughts, opinions and images are my own.}
