To the boys’ delight, the outside world is covered with a soft, white snowy eiderdown. After the sledging and exploring, we headed inside to thaw out in front of an open fire.
Saturday afternoon is the perfect moment to bake a cake. One of the many reasons I love having a cupboard full of freshly made homemade marmalade is that it heralds the time to bake my annual marmalade cake. This time, instead of making my usual recipe, I had a try at the recipe from Jane Brocket’s new book topped with some pink-tinted blood orange icing.
I bought Jane’s book with my christmas money and adore it. I tried her Maderia cake today and it was delicious. It turns out her parkin recipe is the same as my Aunts. it is a great book filled with delightful reminders of my childhood
Snow, stripey boots and cake, brilliant. I wish we had snow. we have bright sunshine right now though so that is a good subsitute.
oooh lovely snow x
Marmalade cake sounds right up my street! Haven’t heard of the recipe book…I’m off to investigate!x
Love the stripey boots! Great pictures. x
I am green with jealousy! What a winter wonderland. I miss my snowy days living in Montreal. I think it’s the most magical thing. Beautiful shots too.
Loving your photos. Isn’t the snow shot amazing? and those sweet boots 🙂
I haven’t tried a marmalade cake but now we have a shelf full of fresh Serville Marmalade courtesy of Mr Myrtle, perhaps I should!
