When the boys woke up this morning, they decided that today was a day for the building of dens. Luckily, there is no shortage of blankets, sheets and quilts lying around, so a bedroom den was constructed, quickly followed by another in the sitting room. The upstairs den was an explorers’ hideout, complete with binoculars, compass, etc. whilst the downstairs one was home to a menagerie of toy animals. The perfect way to spend our last day of half term.
I am sharing some pictures as part of Emma and Catherine‘s Indoor Den Building Week.
Who doesn’t love a den? So much fun!!

Just Pirouette and Carry On…
So so so glad I stumbled upon your lovely blog. I am a mom of 3 boys and loved seeing the tumbling pictures of happy boys. You are now on my blog list to read. xxoo
Oh how we love a den indoors or outdoors, weather permitting. Not sure where it comes from but we call it a ‘campie’. We’ve used them as a challenge at birthday parties – teams compete to make the best campie in a limited time with the criteria that everyone must fit in and the doors must shut. Brilliant fun, I highly recommend it.
That sounds like a great idea!
oh what fun! love the hexagon quilt!
Forts are the best best best! I loved wintery days inside playing imaginary games when I was little xx
Lovely pictures Laura, and the blankets are gorgeous! I love that you had 2 different dens for different purposes. Hope you are enjoying your weekend before school starts again tomorrow (although we have an inset day!)
Den building had been a compulsory and constant activity in our house this week too. I’m liking the double locations – my boys haven’t thought of that yet! x
