We spent New Years Eve with friends. The rain stopped just in time and all manner of lights shone through their dark garden; trees and bushes had been lit with numerous tiny lanterns. Gleefully, the children swirled sparkler after sparkler and we were warmed by the heat from a ferocious bonfire. These beacons in the blackness seemed a fitting way to guide and welcome in the new year.
For me, the eve of 2013 has been less drunken and more hopeful than eves that have gone before. After taking a moment to pause and count blessings, a new year always brings the promise of a fresh start, and this coming year seems particularly ripe with dreams and intentions. For the first time in many years, I am recording some of these intentions in writing. With the help of this planner and this notebook, I am hoping that I can turn hopes into possibilities and ideas into plans.
Only time will tell, but in the meantime, I wish you a very happy 2013. May the new year bring with it all good things.
